I’m a massive fan of Baz Luhrmann’s work, from 1992’s Romeo + Juliet to his adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby in 2013. With his latest (much anticipated) project, he’s bringing the King Of Rock to life in a biopic about the life of Elvis Presley.
There was an extensive casting process to choose who will play the iconic musician but it’s finally been revealed that 27 year old Austin Butler got the job.
Not only does Austin look like a young Elvis, but Luhrmann is quoted by Deadline as saying: ” I had heard about Austin Butler from his stand-out role opposite Denzel Washington in The Iceman Cometh on Broadway, and through a journey of extensive screen testing and music and performance workshops, I knew unequivocally that I had found someone who could embody the spirit of one of the world’s most iconic musical figures.”
I, for one, can’t wait to see this movie. What do you think of “Elvis?”
