The 80th annual Golden Globe Awards took place in Los Angeles, with wide-eyed responses to the hosts, threats to the piano player and a series of heartfelt moments to boot!
The night saw fan favourites like Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Coolidge and Eddie Murphy collect awards at the 80th Annual Golden Globes. But one villain stood out among the stars at this year’s ceremony.

It was host, Jerrod Carmichael, who opened the night by telling audience members to quiet down. He also addressed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s corroded reputation, “I’m here because I’m Black.” Carmichael continued his head-on address, “they didn’t have a single Balck member until George Floyd was killed.”

Michelle Yeoh In Store for Possible Oscar
It was Michelle Yeoh’s acceptance speech that added twinkles of tears to the night. She bagged the Best Actress Award at the Golden Globes for her role in the sci-fi comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once. Her Golden Globe win has sparked hopes that an Oscar will be on the cards for the Malaysian star.
During her speech, she reflected on her showbiz career that began in Hong Kong in the 80s, “it’s been an amazing journey and an incredible fight to be here today.”
“I’m just gonna stand here and take this all in. 40 years. Not letting go of this.”

The 60-year-old actress beat Lesley Manville, Margot Robbie, Emma Thompson and Anya Taylor-Joy to the award. She is the second Asian actor to receive the award. Awkwafina was the first in 2020 for The Farewell.
Eddie Murphy Bringing A Little of 2022 to Golden Globes
That moment has yet to die…the scene when Will Smith stormed onto the Oscars stage and slapped his wife’s name out of Chris Rock’s mouth. That moment continues to live on into 2023, thanks to Eddie Murphy’s Golden Globes acceptance speech.
Murphy was awarded the HFPA’s Cecil B DeMille prize for his contributions to the industry. In a heartfelt speech, Murphy recollected his more than 40 years in the industry, he thanked his family and offered advice to the “dreamers and artists in the room”. I Shot The Piano Player
Joining the dog box alongside host Jerrod, was Golden Globes pianist Chloe Flower. Who had the unpleasant job of rushing recipients toward the end of their speeches. Michelle Yeoh, Colin Farrel and many others demanded that she calm her tempo – the most compelling demand was issued by Austin Butler:
