Gift of the Givers has expanded its Humanitarian Outreach to over 10,000 Residents. The aid organisation says this was in response to heavy downpours that have lashed parts of the province from Friday. A second cold front also made landfall today.
Gift of the Givers expands its Humanitarian Outreach
The spokesperson for the organisation, Ali Sablay says the over 10,000 residents affected are from various informal settlements and the Cape Flats areas. He says SOS calls and WhatsApp messages have been flooding in, since the first heavy rains came down on Friday.

Extensive damage to homes
Sablay says there’s been extensive damage to homes and widespread food contamination. He says last week’s cold and stormy weather saw the organisation distribute aid to over 30,000 flood-affected residents. The organisation says it has reinforced its efforts and brought in additional supplies, including blankets, warm clothing, and beanies to support those left vulnerable by the storm.

Appeal to the public and donors for continued support
Sablay says their dedicated teams will remain on the ground for the next 3 days. He says there’s a possibility for them to extend their operations should the torrential rains persist. At the same time, he has appealed to the public and donors for continued support to help them reach those in need during this critical time.
