Last night, Cabinet announced that the rotational system will be ended with immediate effect. Primary, secondary and special schools learners can now return to daily attendance. The regulatory provision for social distancing of one metre for learners in schools has also been removed. At a special Cabinet meeting held yesterday, Government said its decision is based on the trajectory of the pandemic and the levels of vaccination in the country.
Other changes to Adjusted Alert Level 1 with immediate effect is that those who test positive for covid-19 with no symptoms do not have to isolate anymore. Contacts also do not have to isolate unless they develop symptoms. Meanwhile: If you test positive with symptoms, the isolation period has been reduced from 10 to 7 days.
