Four Western Cape teachers are among the best in the country. They achieved top honours at the National Teaching Awards, which were held at the weekend.

The Provincial Education Department says it’s proud of its teachers who excelled and achieved top honours at the National Teaching Awards. Four Educators from the Western Cape were announced as winners.

Here are the Winners!

The Kader Asmal Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed on Derek Swart, at Paarl Boys’ High School.

Ethon Leigh Alexander from Fraaisig Primary School in Knysna won the Excellence in Teaching Maths Prize.

MEC David Maynier said, “We congratulate them on this outstanding achievement, which is a testament to the incredible work these teachers do every day!”

 

Chadwin Bagley from Rusthof School in Strand won 2nd PLACE for Excellence in Special Needs Teaching.

 

Four Western Cape teachers are among the best in the country

 

Maynier added, “As we celebrate World Teachers’ Day (Saturday), we thank all of the teachers of the Western Cape.”

 

Bernice van Blerk from Vredenberg High School secured 3rd PLACE in the Excellence in Teaching Physical Sciences Category.

A Brighter Future

 

MEC David Maynier has once again thanked teachers for their contribution saying nearly 1.2 million children are placed in their care daily and without them, these youngsters will not have a chance of a brighter future.

 

He concluded, “Thank you for everything that you do, every day, for the children of the Western Cape.”
