Western Cape Police have arrested four of their own, in connection with a house robbery in Llandudno.
The incident dates back to 14 September 2024.
The case was subsequently reported at Hout Bay SAPS, and referred to the Western Cape anti-corruption unit for further investigation. Police spokesperson, Frederick Van Wyk explains what ensued:
“Investigations by seasoned detectives led to the arrest of police members over a period of time. A 44-year-old sergeant was apprehended on 14 September 2024, at about 16:00 at 35 Squadron, Belhar and at about 17:20 a 28-year-old constable was arrested at Gugulethu SAPS. Both appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on 17 September 2024 and the case was remanded to 23 September 2024,” said Van Wyk.
The third suspect, a sergeant, was arrested at Bellville SAPS on 19 September. Early on Wednesday, police arrested another sergeant, at Philippi SAPS after the officer was linked through fingerprints found at the crime scene. The member was detained at Wynberg SAPS police cells, and he is due to appear at Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, with the other three co-accused.
