Grassy Park police are investigating murder and attempted murder cases after yet another mass shooting incident on the Cape Flats on Thursday morning.

According to police, five people, including an elderly man, were shot on Fifth Avenue, Lotus River. One person died on the scene, and four others were left wounded.

Sergeant Wesley Twigg says that upon arrival on the scene, officers found the body of a 20-year-old male who was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

Four other men, between the ages of 20 and 72, who sustained gunshot wounds were taken to a medical facility for medical treatment.

Twigg says the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and arrests are yet to be made.

This latest incident follows a mass shooting incident in Overcome Heights, Muizenberg, on Wednesday morning.

Four men, aged between 20 and 37, were shot dead in Mountain Road. According to police, gangsterism is not being ruled out as a possible motive at this stage, but the investigation is ongoing.
