Family of missing German tourist pleads for his safe return

Published on

The family of German tourist Nick Frischke has pleaded for his safe return, calling on anyone who may have seen him to contact the authorities.

The 22 year old, who arrived in South Africa on Monday 6 February, went missing on Valentine’s Day.

He was staying at an Airbnb in Pinelands, but left on 14 February. Nick was last seen in a local store at the V&A Waterfront that morning. He didn’t return to his Airbnb in Pinelands.

Frischke’s brother Tom has been frantically posting on Facebook, asking for people to keep an eye out for his brother.

Four days ago Tom wrote on Facebook:

“He is currently on holiday in Cape Town and has lost contact since Wednesday. He also did not come home in his accommodation (Pinelands) on Wednesday and Thursday. All his stuff is still there. Thursday he signed up for a surf course and he never showed up for.
We don’t know what to do and think that he is in a helpless situation.”

It has since emerged that Nick was possibly spotted in Hout Bay on 15 February where he was dropped off by an e-hailing service.

He was scheduled to go for a hike in Karbonkelberg. The area was searched without success as yet.

Due to adverse weather conditions in Cape Town on Monday, the search could not proceed, but will be resumed as soon as the conditions are favourable.

At the time of his disappearance, Nick was last seen wearing a blue denim short with white tekkies and a beige T-shirt and a backpack.

Anyone with information that can assist with information that will lead to Nick’s safe return is requested to contact the investigating officer Detective Sgt Daluxolo Mhlauli on 076 609 0764 or alternatively call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Tip-offs can also be submitted by using the My SAPS App.
