Eskom says the country’s electricity grid is still under severe pressure and urges residents to immediately reduce their power-usage to avoid loadshedding.

The power-generator says the constraints are as a result of a shortage in generation capacity, caused by breakdowns in generation units and delays in returning other units to service.

The utility yesterday afternoon implemented Stage 1 loadshedding across South Africa.

Here in Cape Town, no loadshedding was implemented.
