Published on

The death toll in the bus crash on the R21/R24 split North in Johannesburg, just before OR Tambo International Airport, has risen to 16.

12 people died on the scene, while 4 people died in the hospital.

Emergency officials are currently on the scene. 45 passengers were taken to hospital, including the bus driver.

It appears that the bus overturned, resulting in passengers being flung down an embankment.

According to reports, the driver of the bus applied the brakes suddenly, which caused the bus to swerve and eventually overturn.

This latest bus crash comes after 9 people were killed in a bus crash in Kwazulu Natal on Sunday.
