Data shows a definite up-trend in mass shootings in South Africa

The incidence of mass shootings, seen across the country over the past few weeks, has a range of motivators and can’t be pinned on just one cause.

This, according to Dr. Guy Lamb, Criminologist, and Lecturer within the Political Science Department at the University of Stellenbosch.

Lamb says gang activity, turf-wars, and criminals extorting protection money from informal businesses are all contributing factors.

Lamb says data shows that there has been a definite up-trend in mass shootings.
