Coalition negotiations are heating up because the council meetings, at which mayors and speakers are to be elected, must be held by this Thursday.

Political parties have to do everything in their power to conclude coalition agreements before the council meetings are held – by law, within 14 days after the election results are announced. In 66 hung municipal councils, including 5 metro areas, coalitions must be formed because no political party has achieved an outright majority.
