Capetonians are not in the clear yet as more heavy rains are predicted for the weekend. According to the South African Weather Services (SAWS), a significant cold front is expected to affect the Western Cape and Northern Cape from Saturday to Monday.
The weather services has warned the public and small scale farmers that the expected cold front will result in heavy downpours, snowfalls, cold conditions, strong winds and rough seas.
An orange level 5 warning for disruptive rain is expected over the City of Cape Town, Cape Winelands, and Theewaterskloof municipality on Saturday, 27 July 2024. These heavy downpours could result in flooding of roads and suceptible settlements.
A yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rain is also predicted for other parts of the province including. The southern West Coast, Langeberg, Overstrand and Cape Agulhas municipalities can expect these downpours on Saturday. The adverse weather could lead to disruption of traffic flow due to major roads being flooded and damage to property.
