It is also boosting trade and creating jobs. He says more equipment is on the way, which will further improve the port’s performance and strengthen the City’s role as a gateway for economic growth. Transnet Port Terminals officially handed over the first batch of nine state-of-the-art rubber-tyred gantries earlier this week. These advanced machines are equipped with anti-sway capabilities. MEC Meyer says they are already making a measurable impact on port operations.

A significant milestone
The Managing Executive for the Transnet Port Terminals in the Western Region, Oscar Borchards, added that this significant milestone is just one step forward in the terminal fleet development plan and that the refurbishment of ship-to-shore cranes will also commence shortly.
