Boost for Cape Town with more direct flights between Paris, Amsterdam

Published on

Tourism between Cape Town and Europe is set to be boosted, just in time for the Mother City’s prime tourism season.

Both Air France and KLM have announced additional flights between Cape Town and Paris and Cape Town and Amsterdam, respectively.

Air France’s seasonal flight service will return between Cape Town International Airport (CPT) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) starting from 7 October 2024.

This is in response to strong demand from both business and leisure travelers. The airline will operate three weekly flights, with an additional flight scheduled to be added from November, just in time for the busy holiday season.

In a statement, Air France says this service underscores their continued commitment to connecting South Africa with Europe and the rest of the world.

“The reintroduction of these flights offers passengers seamless travel between Cape Town and Paris, providing access to one of the most iconic cities in Europe, and from there, connecting to Air France’s global network. This service will be especially beneficial as Cape Town continues to grow as a major hub for international tourism and business.”

These seasonal flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays and will be operated by a Boeing Dreamliner 787-900 and are in addition to Air France’s existing daily flights between Paris and Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines also announced its enhanced schedule between Amsterdam and Cape Town, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

While KLM will continue with its daily services to Johannesburg and Cape Town, KLM will increase its capacity to Cape Town with two additional flights per week on Tuesdays and Sundays. This will commence on 17 December 2024, until the end of the European winter season.

In addition to the current daily flights, Flight KL597/598, which arrives in Cape Town at 21:30 and departs at 23:20, KLM will introduce Flight KL595/596. This new service will arrive at 06:10 and depart at 08:05 on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting Tuesday, 17 December 2024.

This will be good news for those who want to escape the northern hemisphere winter, and great news for Cape Town’s tourism sector, who will be ready to welcome visitors with open arms.
