Eskom suddenly implements load shedding

Eskom suddenly implemented load shedding on Wednesday evening, announcing on X just before 19h00 that five generation units were lost just before the peak period. Load shedding at Stage 2 was already implemented at 18h25. This will remain in effect until 05h00 on Thursday morning. The grieving process for three Northern Cape families have been prolonged, after the corpses of their relatives were stolen from a private mortuary, in Kuruman.
