  The SASSA Gold Card expiration date has arrived, but the Western Cape MEC for Social Development Jaco Londt has urged grant beneficiaries not to panic. There are still options available to make the switch.   Eskom suddenly implemented load shedding on Wednesday evening, announcing on X just before 19h00 that five generation units were lost just before the peak period.   Load shedding at Stage 2 was already implemented at 18h25. This will remain in effect until 05h00 on Thursday morning.   The power utility says while it has made ‘notable progress’ in its generation recovery efforts, the loss of five units has come as a setback.   Eskom

    The grieving process for three Northern Cape families have been prolonged, after the corpses of their relatives were stolen from a private mortuary, in Kuruman. On Monday, two suspects descended on the funeral parlour where they launched their attack.   “It is alleged that on Monday, 17 March 2025, at approximately 01:30, two unknown men entered a guard room at the funeral home and assaulted, tied up and blind folded the security guard.

  An alleged assault at South Africa’s isolated Antarctica research base has made world headlines, as the government has made assurances that everything is under control, with a mediation process in place to restore relationships at the remote base, 170km inland of the Antarctic ice shelf.   The Sunday Times first reported on the matter this past Sunday, after they received an email from a member of the Sanae IV overwintering team, alleging that another
