Water officials on local, provincial and national front are rejoicing following the good rainfall so far this winter. The fact that the ground is soaked has assisted the runoff from rainfall catchment areas to speedily flow into dams. The Department of Water and Sanitation says this runoff will hopefully penetrate other water systems including ground water. Cape Town dam levels are now on average over 75% full! Two sea mammals found trapped and injured in fishing nets, off the coast of Kommetjie yesterday, will soon go back to the ocean, thanks to the rapid response of sea rescue officials. A loggerhead sea turtle and a seal were found trapped in fishing nets by a passerby, who immediately contacted the NSRI. Spokesperson for the NSRI, Craig Lambinon says members of the Two Oceans Aquarium were called to help set the injured sea creatures, free.
