15 Best Wedding Movies To Give You All The Romantic Feels

Published on

There is an unsung subgenre of romcoms. They are packed with high emotions, drama, and (of course) romance! We’re talking about the wedding movie.

While it might not be anything like real life, it’s nice to just escape to a fantasy world where the couple ends up happy at the altar – and spend the night partying it up with loved one.

Here 18 of the Best Wedding Movies To Give You All The Romantic Feels

Corpse Bride

A Tim Burton classic that twists romance with scary elements. Victor and Victoria are set to marry. But while the nervous grooms is practicing his lines, her accidentally marries a corpse – who drags him off to the land of the dead. It is an imaginative fantasy with added bittersweet whimsy that always slaps!

The Wedding Planner

Jennifer Lopez plays a wedding planner who ends up falling in love for her client: a groom-to-be ( one dreamy Matthew McConaughey). This film is nothing short of a classic romcom that makes for some easy watching.

About Time

What if you had the power to go back in time, and perfect each moment? That’s certainly the case as Domhnall Gleeson uses his genetic time-travelling skills to make each memory perfect for his wife, played by Rachel McAdams. Not forgetting the not-so-traditional red wedding dress in the movie’s final moments.

Bride Wars

This movie taught me to never share the same wedding day plans. Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, two best friends, find themselves trapped in a bridezilla-style fight over who will have the better – and best – wedding day ever. Warning: you will cry…a lot.

Bridesmaids

A chick flick unlike any other. It stars powerhouse comediennes Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Kirsten Wigg, Ellie Kemper and Wendi McLendon-Covey. So you’re sure to laugh so hard (that a little pee comes out…) This is known as the movie that pioneered the girls-behaving-badly subgenre.

27 Dresses

Always the bride – never the bridesmaid. This is the unfortunate truth for Katherine Heigl in this film. She finds herself in an even trickier situation when she falls for her boss – who is set to marry her sister. But things start to look up when James Marsden enters the pictures.

Crazy Rich Asians

An all-Asian cast leads this Jon M. Chu adapted film. The entire film is stunning, set against breathtaking scenery, opulence and that lavish wedding. It is just beautiful!

Think Like a Man Too

In this sequel to Think Like a Man, the whole group is back together in Vegas for Michael and Candace’s wedding. But of course, nothing goes according to plan.

The Wedding Singer

Adam Sandler is a lovesick songwriter who has one of the most romantic day jobs: performing romance-fueled hits at weddings. But trouble ensues after he catches feelings for an engaged Drew Barrymore.

Mamma Mia

A bride-to-be (Amanda Seyfried) invites three men to her wedding, hoping that one of them could be her father. But before that there are still days of planning. The entire cast is led by dancing (and singing) queen, Meryl Streep on a gorgeous Greek island. The movie is funny and romantic, powered by the music of ABBA.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Speaking of Greek romance. This movie has its romcom elements, but its about a young Greek women coming to terms with her heritage, while getting her family to accept her non-Greek partner. Now is the perfect time to watch it as My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 opens in cinemas this September.

Meenakshi Sundereshwar

A story about a couple trying to find their feet, amid spending their first year of marriage in a long-distance relationship. An adorable, modern take on arranged marriages and long distance romance.

Father of the Bride

Steve Martin plays a father who is struggling to let his daughter leave the nest, as she is about to get married. A heartfelt film about father-daughter relationships that will make you want to get in touch with your old man. Strangely, the 1950’s version of this movie was released around the date of Elizabeth Taylor’s real-life wedding to Conrad Hilton Jr.

Love Actually

We all know and love this British holiday movie that sees multiple love stories – and a wedding. It is an essential holiday classic. But its also one of the films that has given us the best wedding scenes in a hot minute.

Monster-in-Law

Honestly one of my favourite romcom wedding flicks EVER! It sees an unhappy mother-in-law trying her best to force her son to call off his wedding. It is every young bride’s nightmare – but in romcom fashion – it all ends beautifully.
