BBC reports that about 380 long-finned pilot whales have died in what is suspected to be Australia’s largest stranding on record. Since Monday, hundreds of  the whales have been found beached on Tasmania’s west coast, with rescuers managing to save 50 animals. Efforts are underway to help the remaining estimated 30 whales into deeper waters.
