For inland provinces –  the Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo that day has arrived.  Motshekga has also clarified that 30% is not the pass requirement for matrics. With the announcement of last year’s matric results looming, the South African pass mark has again been questioned. Briefing the media yesterday, Motshekga says the Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on schooling over the past 2 years. Meanwhile, the National Professional Teachers Organisation of South Africa is calling for SOME grades to return to full-time learning this year. The department has confirmed that schools will remain on a rotational basis due to Covid-19 protocols. But Naptosa says the damage caused during the pandemic by rotational and online schooling has been significant.
