As the weather gets colder, we usually find ourselves reaching more and more for pants. It’s not that we don’t love our skirts; it’s just that we haven’t always been sure how to style them in the colder months…until now.
1. Wear mini skirts with opaque tights. A fun printed mini you wore with bare legs and sandals in the Spring and Summer gets new life when paired with super-dark tights. You can also vary the tights’ thickness depending on how cold it is.
2. Wear mini skirts with long jackets. If you’re not into the whole tights thing, transition your mini skirts from Summer to Autumn/Winter by pairing them with long jackets in heavier fabrics. The French love this and they always look chic.
3. Wear knee length skirt with tall boots. If you’re not so into tights but your skirt’s still on the shorter side, pair it with tall boots, allowing for a small sliver of skin to peek out. I love the way this subtle flash of leg looks.
4. Wear pencil skirts with chunky knitwear… if you wear tight and sleek on the bottom, you can wear something chunkier, oversized/ loose fitting on the top – vice versa.
5. Wear Midi Skirts with Tall Boots. When you cover the tops of your boots with a beautiful midi skirt – a midi skirt is slightly shorter than the Maxi skirt – which goes to your ankles… a midi skirt goes past your knees and stops mid calf. The resulting look is sophisticated and polished.
