Anti-gang unit cops shot and wounded in Lavender Hill

Steenberg police have registered cases of attempted murder, attack on police and reckless and negligent driving after two anti-gang unit officers were shot and wounded in Lavender Hill.

 

Western Cape police say a police Captain and a Sergeant were chasing a vehicle in Lavender Hill on Tuesday evening, when they came to a stop in Mirby Road at around 18:25.

 

The officers came under attack from members of the community, with unknown gunmen opening fire on them.

 

The injured members were taken to a medical facility for treatment.

 

No arrests have been made yet.
