Animal shelter appeals for homes

Published on

The Mdzananda Animal Clinic is urgently appealing to the public to provide forever homes to their homeless dogs. This is because the current weather conditions are not ideal for them to remain in the shelter.

Despite their efforts to ensure their comfort with enclosed units, beds and blankets, the concrete structures of the shelter kennels retain the cold and are accessible to the harsh wind which is not conducive to the well-being of the animals.

“Our shelter is currently operating at 150% capacity and cannot accept any more surrenders,” says Marcelle du Plessis, the Fundraising, Communications and Programmes Executive.

The Mdzananda Animal Clinic calls on the community to open their hearts and homes to these dogs.

Du Plessis added, “We are deeply concerned about the fate of the animals that cannot be taken in during this harsh weather.”

She says it also helps us create more space in their shelter to assist other pets in need within the community.

“Together, we can ensure that no dog is left out in the cold,” du Plessis concluded.

The clinic and shelter are NPO, PBO and veterinary council registered.
