An alleged drunken taxi driver in crash injures two children

An alleged drunken taxi driver has been involved in a crash which left two children with injuries. The driver of the minibus is expected to appear in court soon, after two schoolchildren were injured when his vehicle was involved in a collision with the car they were being transported in to school.

According to Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, the crash happened yesterday on Spine Road. He says the children had to be hospitalised following the collision. It’s alleged that a minibus had collided with a motor vehicle.

Strandfontein Police say the driver of the minibus was arrested for reckless and negligent driving as well as for driving under the influence of alcohol. He will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on the mentioned charges (once charged.)
