A security guard has been shot and killed in Gugulethu. He was sitting in a light delivery vehicle, in NY 05, when he was murdered. At the same time, three other people who were with him in the vehicle were wounded in the attack yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 09 October 2025), at about 15:00.

 

“Upon arrival on the scene, they found a security guard inside a GWM light delivery vehicle who sustained gunshot wounds to his body.”

Police Sergeant Wesley Twigg says, according to reports, the victims were sitting inside a GWM light delivery vehicle when unknown assailants approached them. The attackers allegedly fired shots at them. He says the 45-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

 

“Three others were wounded.”

 

 

The security guard was 45 years old

 

Paramedics then transported the other 3 victims to medical facilities. Twigg says the suspects fled the scene. They also allegedly stole the firearms of the victims. At this stage, detectives in Gugulethu are probing cases of murder and attempted murder. The Police have asked anyone with information about this incident to come forward.
