A learner has been stabbed at a school in Cape Town. The Western Cape Education Department’s Bronagh Hammond says a Grade 8 learner had allegedly stabbed a Grade 10 learner on Tuesday at the Cravenby Combined School. He then reportedly fled the scene.

Hammond says the school arranged for immediate medical assistance, and the victim was transported to a hospital. She says the WCED is thankful that the victim is in recovery.

Counselling arranged for school learners
Following the traumatic incident, counsellors were dispatched to the school to provide counselling to learners affected by this ordeal. The WCED says the school will institute disciplinary procedures against the alleged perpetrator.
No case yet says Police
Meanwhile, the Police’s Anelisiwe Manyana, based at the Western Cape Police’s Media Centre in the City, says no cases have been opened as yet. At this stage, Ravensmead Police have no knowledge of the incident.
