A former police officer has been rearrested

A former police officer, accused of using a fake firearm license to buy a firearm, has been rearrested. Fifty-year-old Busie Linda Dyani, the former media liaison officer for the Mfuleni SAPS, was arrested on Wednesday, for failing to appear in court.

The original incident she’s accused of took place in 2019. She had allegedly visited a registered arms dealer in Stellenbosch to purchase a Musgrave Hunting rifle in full police uniform. She was reported for allegedly using a fake firearm license and arrested in May that year.

 

Former police member in court next week

 

The Hawks say that as the trial got underway in 2021, Dyani did not appear in court. Hawks’ spokesperson, Siyabulela Vukubi says she was traced to the Eastern Cape and arrested. She will appear in a Cape Town court on Monday.
