Statistics SA says up to 250,000 domestic workers lost their jobs during the national lockdown. The job losses were reported between the first and second quarter of 2020, during April, May and June. Total employment in private households, which includes gardeners, private security guards, pool cleaners and drivers, dropped by 311,000.
