Smile Breakfast’s 5 WORST Recipes of All Time

The Smile Breakfast team were interested to find out what the worst recipes are that you’ve ever seen or tried. While there are some…interesting dishes out there, these were probably the hardest to stomach:

5 – Marmite Ice Cream.

Yes. You read correctly. I don’t think the global shortage of Marmite would help the sales of this British recipe known as Marmite X-X-X. Makcari’s ice cream parlour in Kent started selling it to customers in 2018, but England’s favourite breakfast spread wasn’t quite the hit for dessert.

4 – The Vienna-Sausage Shortcake

This atrocity involves baking a batch of cornbread, and simmering cream of chicken soup, cheese, green beans, and vienna sausages.

3 – Rachel’s Meat Trifle

Fans of sitcom Friends will remember this one fondly. It’s one of the iconic moments from the show and was meant to be a joke, but it’s actually found on recipe websites all over the Internet. Here’s what you’ll need – a layer of ladyfingers, then a layer of jam, then custard, raspberries, more ladyfingers, then beef sautéed with peas and onions, more custard and then bananas with whipped cream on top. I’ll save you a Google search:

Not your favourite aunty’s trifle.

2 – Sandwich Cake

Polony, mayonnaise, cucumber, cream cheese, and bread already seems like a lot. Now imagine popping some candles on top. Rather just burn the whole thing please?

1 – Vegetable & Gelatin Cake

They tried to fool us with a fancy name like “Garden Vegetable Terrine”.  Just when you thought that cake couldn’t be desecrated more, may I remind you that cookbooks in the 70’s were a lawless and have no place in history. It’s like they discovered gelatin and decided to see what it would work with by trying EVERYTHING!
