A newly launched recycling revolution is taking the country by storm. The Million Plus Recycling Revolution campaign by the organization POLYCO, is a bold new campaign that aims to mobilize more than one million South Africans to commit to recycling their plastic packaging. The Polyolefin Responsibility Organisation known as POLYCO aims to minimize the environmental impact of plastic waste on the South African landscape by promoting consumer education and awareness programmes.

The Brand Manager for POLYCO Nicole Rowe says, “they hope that this campaign will spread far and wide and that recycling will become a new norm for every South African.”

The idea of the revolution is for any person to sign up and to commit to recycling, whether it is recycling at home and they get someone to collect it from them – or whether they take their recycling to a collection drop-off point. And once you have committed to be a “recycling revolutionary,” which is what we call everybody, then you nominate someone else.
