Published on

On Smile 90.4FM this Women’s Day long-weekend, we’re celebrating the power of women by declaring it DIVAS WEEKEND from Friday 09 August to Sunday 11 August.

We’re paying tribute to the most iconic, most influential, and most awarded women in music history – by playing all the songs from your favourite Divas, that inspired you most!

Which song by YOUR favourite Diva inspires you most?

Divas Weekend

Here are some of our Smile 90.4FM presenters’ inspirational choices:

“I love Whitney Houston’s I’m Every Woman. I remember the music video, she was pregnant at the time but you only saw it in the end when Chaka Khan joined her. She had such a great voice and her music was a big part of the 80s and 90s when I was growing up. For me, the song said that a woman wasn’t just one thing, we could be and are multi-faceted, no putting Whitney in a box!”     Maxine Greeff

“Rise Up by Andra Day is one of my best pick-me-uppers!”     Merentia van der Vent

“Diana Ross – I’m Coming Out. This is my go-to song when I need a little pep in my step. Either to start my day off right, or to finish it off with a boost of diva energy. It gets me singing and dancing into my hairbrush, no matter what mood I’m in!”     Lindy Lehto

“For me it’s Roar by Katy Perry. It makes me roar with girl power, every time I hear it”     Angel Campey

“When You Believe by Whitney and Mariah”     Meghan Hector

“I was going to say anything by Mariah Carey because she’s the first diva I think of; but I’d rather say Alicia Keys’ Fallin’ – it’s the song she’s most famous for and she is such a total diva for always showing up fresh faced and make-up free on the red carpet – not many women would feel confident enough to do that!”     Bailey Schneider

“Oh my hat…mine would definitely be: Fight Song by Rachel Platten!”     Christine Wessels
