CAPE TOWN’S “GREEN MAP” CELEBRATES 10 YEARS

Published on

Cape Town’s Green Map has been promoting sustainable living for 10 years. The anniversary falls on World Environment Day, 5 June.

The Cape Town Green Map is an interactive and informative online resource which provides Capetonians and tourists with information about how to live, work and play in a manner that reduces their impact on the environment.

All residents and visitors are invited to visit the online portal as the newly revamped website is being launched on World Environment Day.

To date, the project has produced eight print edition maps covering topics such as smart living, waste and recycling, nature and green open spaces, responsible tourism, as well as cycling and non-motorised transport.

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Marian Nieuwoudt, says the Green Map has played an important role in making information and knowledge about environmental sustainability easily accessible.
