Postbank is urging social grant beneficiaries who still use SASSA Gold Cards to switch to Postbank Black Cards before the 31 August 2026 deadline.
The bank says SASSA Gold Cards are being phased out and will no longer work. Beneficiaries who do not replace their cards before the deadline could experience disruptions or delays in receiving their grant payments.
Postbank is encouraging people to switch as soon as possible instead of waiting until the last few days of August. The bank says this will help beneficiaries avoid long queues and ensure they continue receiving their grants without problems.
Postbank Chief Commercial Officer Thamsanqa Cele says queues are already getting longer at some card replacement sites.
“We are already noticing a steady increase in queues at several of our card replacement sites. We expect queues to become much longer in August, which is the final month before the deadline. Beneficiaries who wait until then may experience long delays,” says Cele.
Postbank says it has put the necessary resources in place to help beneficiaries complete the card replacement process, but says people need to make use of the time that remains.
