[LISTEN] Change Your Gmail Address (Because ‘SkaterBoy2005’ Is No Longer a Vibe)

Published on

Let’s be honest: we all have a digital skeleton in our closet. Maybe you’re still rocking the email you made in 2008 when you thought “BulletproofArt” was peak aesthetic—only for your boss to point out that the last four letters are “FART.”

Google is finally throwing us a lifeline. You can now change your primary @gmail.com username without the digital suicide of deleting your entire Google account. No more migrating Drive files or losing your YouTube history just because you’ve outgrown your Mxit-era “d4@n” phase.

The Joy Ride with Angel Campey heard all off the cringe usernames you thought were cool in the early 2000’s.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR EMAIL USERNAME

Note: Google hasn’t rolled this out en masse to the rest of the world but when you are able to, time to ditch PartyAnimal_ForLife69 and embrace a more… dignified digital identity.

This isn’t like changing your name legally, so don’t worry about tons of paperwork. Google’s made it pretty straightforward. Here’s how.

Step 1 — Sign in to your Gmail account

Go to Gmail and log in as usual.

Step 2 — Open your Google Account settings

Click your profile picture (top right) → Manage your Google Account.

Step 3 — Go to Personal Info

In the left menu, click Personal info.

Step 4 — Open Email settings

Scroll down to the Contact info or Email section.

Step 5 — Find your Primary email

Under Primary email, look for the option Change Gmail address.

Step 6 — Choose your new Gmail username

  • Enter your desired new username
  • If it’s available, you’ll be allowed to proceed
  • If it’s already taken, you’ll need to try another variation
