Is Australia’s social media ban for children a good move?

In a world first, online platforms TikTok, Snapchat and Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and Threads, will soon be banned for Australian teenagers through 1 million-plus accounts. The move comes as a decision to try keep children safe from the risks associated with social media use. It’s a concern for all parents and we asked you if you had any specific rules and approaches to social media use with your family.

It’s definitely a conversation that we’ll keep having and the more you start to think about how much of a minefield the Internet can be for your kids, the more you might start agreeing with Australia’s decision. The ban for social media use in children is a move that Digital Wellness Consultant Mark Russell says is good step towards keeping children safe
