Four people, including a 13-year-old boy, were wounded in a suspected gang-related shooting in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, on Thursday evening.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said officers registered four cases of attempted murder after the victims were brought to a local hospital around 18:30.

According to reports, SAPS members were alerted by hospital staff after the group arrived in private vehicles for emergency treatment.

The victims include:

  • A 13-year-old boy, who was grazed by a bullet on the left side of his chest,
  • A 19-year-old man who was shot in his left leg and foot,
  • A 21-year-old woman, wounded in her right wrist, and
  • A 22-year-old woman, shot in her left foot.

All four remain under medical care.

Police confirmed the motive is believed to be gang-related. No arrests have yet been made, and investigations continue.

Authorities have appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS mobile app to report anonymously.

Last month, Kraaifontein was reeling amid several fatal gang-related shootings, which prompted the National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola to visit the Wallacedene area.
