A double murder and an attempted murder in Philippi-East

A second teenager has been arrested for the attack on 3 MP's — The Chairperson of Parliament's Police Portfolio Committee, Ian Cameron, alongside 2 members of the DA, were injured in a smash and grab incident near the Philippi SAPS training academy in Philippi East yesterday afternoon.

There’s been a double murder and an attempted murder in Philippi-East earlier this week. Meanwhile, the Police say no one has been arrested yet in connection with the crimes. Officers found two bodies on Tuesday night in the Never-Never informal settlement. A third person, who was also allegedly attacked by the perpetrators, managed to report the incident to authorities.

Captain F.C. Van Wyk says the third victim claims that the two deceased men were robbed before they were killed and set alight. At this stage, the Police are investigating murder and attempted murder cases.

No arrests yet in Cape double murder

At the same time, three robbery with firearm cases are also being probed by members of the Philippi East Police station. Captain van Wyk added that the third victim had an open wound to his head. People with information are asked to come forward.
