Most of the victims who died in a horrific car crash in Brackenfell on Saturday were under the age of 18. The crash, which took place on Cecil Morgan Road, involved a vehicle that collided with a tree and burst into flames. A case of culpable homicide is currently under investigation.

The identities of the four deceased include 15-year-old Adrian Le Roux, 16-year-old Kiara-Joy Daniels, 17-year-old Perth Eksteen, and Daniel Jansen Van Rensburg, who was over the age of 18. Two others were in critical condition after the crash.
Le Roux was a learner at Monument Park High School. The school described his death as an “untimely passing” and paid tribute to him as “a cherished member of our school community”. Learners in his class have been asked to attend school dressed in black in his memory.
“His presence brought light, laughter, and kindness to those around him. May we honour Adrian’s memory by supporting one another with compassion and care, and by remembering the joy he brought into our lives,” read the school’s statement.
Fairmont High School confirmed that both Eksteen and Jansen Van Rensburg were part of their school community.
Eksteen, a matriculant, was remembered as “a vibrant and unforgettable student” who was “full of energy, confidence, and spirit”.
“He brought life into every space he entered and will be sorely missed.”
Jansen Van Rensburg, a former pupil who had moved to homeschooling, remained close to the school through his participation in rugby. He was described as having a “quiet determination” and being “a valued teammate and friend.”
“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to the Eksteen and van Rensburg families during this incredibly difficult time. We stand with all those in our school community who are grieving the loss of these two young men.”
An amateur sports team in Somerset West, Raithby Universals RFC, offered their condolences to the Daniels family, specifically to the father of Kiara-Joy.
