Shocking details have emerged in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court during the bail hearing of Tiffany Meek, accused of murdering her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, on 13 May 2025.
The investigating officer, Sergeant Nceba Diko, has testified that Jayden-Lee’s body was found in his underwear, just metres from his home in Fleurhof, in the early hours of 14 May, after being reported missing the previous afternoon.
The court also heard that, according to a security guard at the apartment complex where they lived, Tiffany Meek had returned there at around 04:00 on 14 May and left again just after 05:30.
Diko says it was shortly after Tiffany left that a resident alerted the security guard that Jayden-Lee’s body was found on the stairs, not far from his flat.
“The security guard then rushed to the place mentioned to him and found the child on the floor just behind the pillar of the staircase on the first floor. When he looked into his eyes, they were not blinking.”
They also tried to warm Jayden-Lee with a blanket, but it was too late.
“Another male person said he felt the pulse of the child, and there was no pulse, and his head was cold. There were no signs of life.”
Diko emphasised that residents who left the complex that morning, just before Tiffany, had not seen a child on the stairs. But immediately as she left, the child was found there.
Meek last week denied all the allegations against her, claiming she is being framed. In her affidavit, she asserted that Jayden-Lee didn’t return home from school on 13 May.
The hearing continues on 22 July.
