The South African Police Service has officially kicked off its massive e-Recruitment drive, offering 5,500 entry-level Police Trainee positions. For the first time ever, the entire process is 100% online!

If you’re between 18 and 35 years old, now is your chance to join SAPS and help protect South Africa. The application window is now open and will close on 18 July 2025.

No criminal record or pending cases

The Police are looking for candidates with no criminal record or pending cases. At the same time, they are particularly wanting graduates with qualifications in Law, Policing, Criminology, IT, and Forensics for roles in specialised units like the Hawks (DPCI), Detective Services, and Crime Intelligence, to submit their application.

Digital Applications – Faster, Fairer and Corruption-Free

In a major game-changer, SAPS has launched an Electronic Recruitment System available at www.saps.gov.za/careers. This shift to digital means no paperwork, no queues, and no lost forms. It also tightens security around the recruitment process. This will help stamp out corruption and nepotism.

The SAPS has stressed that the application process is free. Positions are not for sale. You should apply through the official SAPS e-Recruitment portal.

Targeting Future Crime Fighters with Skills – Rigorous Testing Ahead

 

Applicants must be mentally and physically fit. They will undergo psychometric testing, fitness assessments, vetting, and medical evaluations. Successful candidates will receive nine months of training and a monthly stipend of R4,500.

Since the launch of Project 10 000, over 30,000 officers have been trained. Now it’s your turn to wear the badge.
