Baby Mogamat Imaad Shamar, who was kidnapped at the Middestad Mall in Bellville, has been found.

Western Cape police spokesperson, Frederick Van Wyk, confirmed on Tuesday that the baby was located in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain.

“Owing to the meticulous investigation and the analytical approach to the information at their disposal, the team pounced on an address in Honolulu Street in Tafelsig on Monday 30 June 2025 where they found the child,” said Van Wyk.

The one-week-old infant was taken after his mother, who fell ill, left him in the care of the woman who was with her at the shopping centre on Saturday.
