WEATHER WARNING! Snow headed for the Western Cape this weekend

Published on

It’s only been a few days since the official start to winter and already, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a number of weather warnings ahead of the weekend.

It’s time to snuggle up, get that firewood ready, dust off the coats and unpack those heaters once again, as it’s about to be a very cold, wet and windy weekend.

A yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall leading to localised flooding and difficult driving conditions is expected over the mother city, the Cape Winelands, the western parts of the Overberg as well as the southern parts of the West Coast.

This is from Saturday and will persist until Monday. This is in addition to possible snowfall over high-lying areas and mountain peaks leading to icy road conditions especially over the Beaufort West Municipality.

At present, Sutherland is the coldest area in the province, with its minimum temperature of -4 degrees Celsius for Thursday.
