Western Cape residents are in for a wet and cold start to the week, with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) saying the sunny conditions of the past week have given way to the cold.
The Weather Service says this week’s cold front will bring rainy weather, cold conditions, damaging winds, and rough sea conditions.
The cold front is expected to affect the Western and Northern Cape provinces from Tuesday into Wednesday.

The public and small stock farmers have also been advised that cold to very cold, wet and windy conditions with snowfall are expected over the high-lying areas of the Western Cape on Tuesday.
A yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall is also expected over the Cape Winelands, Cape Metropole, West Coast and western parts of the Overberg Districts of the Western Cape on Tuesday. This could lead to localised flooding of susceptible formal and informal settlements, roads, low-lying areas and bridges.
Additionally, a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds and waves is expected between Alexander Bay and Cape Agulhas, spreading to Plettenberg Bay from Tuesday evening. This could result in difficulty in navigation at sea and localised disruptions to small harbours and ports. These conditions are expected to subside on Thursday morning.
And lastly, a yellow level 2 warning for damaging interior winds is expected over the Central Karoo of the Western Cape on Tuesday. According to the weather services, this could lead to longer travel times, problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes, localised damage to informal and formal settlements and communication/power disruptions.
