A deep sense of shock and mourning has gripped the Western Cape police community following the murder of a 31-year-old female constable, whose body was discovered in Langa early Saturday morning.
The constable, who served at the Bishop Lavis police station, was found inside her vehicle near a primary school on Bennie Street with multiple gunshot wounds.
She had left her home in Kraaifontein the night before, reportedly on her way to attend an evening church service in KwaLanga, after completing her shift.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), have taken over the case and launched a murder investigation. As of Saturday afternoon, no arrests had been made.
Western Cape police spokespersons have confirmed that all available resources are being mobilised to track down those responsible.
Authorities are urging anyone with information that might aid the investigation to come forward by contacting SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
