A cash reward of up to R100 000 is being offered for information that can lead to the successful conviction of the person who murdered a neighbourhood watch member in Makhaza last week.
Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says 49-year-old Farrington Mkutshulwa was gunned down in the Ezimfeneni informal settlement near Enkanini just before midnight last Friday.

He says Mkahaza police officers had responded to a complaint at about 23:30 last Friday, where they found the body of the victim who had succumbed to gunshot wounds to his body. Swartbooi says medical personnel declared the victim declared deceased on the scene. The motive for the attack is not clear and as such it has become the subject of an investigation by the South African Police Service.

The Police Spokesperson says four unidentified men have been mentioned as persons of interest and detectives would like to interview them.
“The Western Cape Provincial detectives are seeking the assistance of the public for information which will lead to the arrest and successful conviction of those responsible for the senseless killing of 49-year-old Farrington Mkutshulwa in Makhaza on Friday, 17 January 2025,” he added.
He says a reward of up to R100 000 is therefore offered for any information that will assist in apprehending those responsible for the murder of Farrington Mkutshulwa.
