Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Bishop Lavis on Thursday night.

One of the suspects is a teenager aged 17, and a 9mm pistol was seized. The other suspects are aged 24 and 29.

Seven people died in the mass killing after gunmen opened fire on them in Kogelberg Street. One person was wounded.

The arrests come after a SAPS WC multidisciplinary tracing team worked through the night.

Additional deployments were also assigned to the area and will remain there until the situation has been stabilised. They are conducting patrols, high-density operations and raids.

Meanwhile, investigations into another mass shooting in Atlantis continue. No arrests have been effected yet.

Police believe this incident, and Wednesday’s deadly shooting in Atlantis, are gang related.

Oversight and Community Safety MEC, Anroux Marais, visited the area today. She says gun control is a major concern.

She has requested additional crime intelligence to be deployed to the province and metro to help alleviate the load of local crime investigators.
