SAPS Faure base in Eerste River burgled

A break-in occurred at the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Faure Base in Eerste River on Monday. According to the Western Cape Provincial Community Police Board, non-lethal riot items were stolen during the brazen incident. The Board has shared that it is disturbed by the breach of security.

 

Arrests have yet to be made.

 

“We are closely monitoring the ongoing investigation and urge SAPS to act swiftly in apprehending those responsible. Additionally, we hope that the security deficiencies that allowed this incident to occur will be thoroughly addressed to
prevent future occurrences,” said the WCPCPB’s Justin Kumlehn.

Police confirmed the matter stating that Kleinvlei Police detectives are probing a case of housebreaking and theft.

 

“On Monday 12 August 2024 at around 11:30 it was discovered that a storeroom was burgled and that non-lethal riot control ammunition and a gas canister launcher were stolen,” said Western Cape Provincial SAPS Colonel Andre Traut.
