More fuel price relief predicted for July

Published on

It appears that there will be more good news for motorists in the coming month. In the mid-month review for July’s fuel prices, it looks as if both petrol and diesel prices will drop significantly again.

Petrol is expected to drop by between R1,10 – R1,15 per litre. Diesel is forecasted to be around 55 cents cheaper.

While the much-needed reprieve is welcome, the Automobile Association said these decreases will not bring South Africans back to the lower prices seen at the start of this year.

Back in January, coastal drivers paid R21,77 a litre for Unleaded 95. Currently, the road users are forking out R23,46 for the same fuel type.

“These decreases, if materialised, will go a long way to further alleviating the fuel price burden – and its associated impact on other prices – felt by millions of South Africans and is certainly welcome,” concluded the AA’s Eleanor Mavimbela.
