Cape of Good Hope SPCA thanks water heroes

Published on

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA says it can attest to the fact that not all heroes wear capes. When the Grassy Park facility was left without water from Sunday to Tuesday as a result of a burst main in the area, residents flocked to donate water for the SPCA’s 500 animals to be taken care of.

The organisation’s Belinda Abraham says some used their powers of creativity, by using services like Uber Eats and Checker Sixty60 to deliver water donations right to its doorstep.

“Others, like the Kirstenhof Community, joined forces, fetching and carrying water to a designated spot to be loaded and driven directly to our door. But the heroics didn’t stop there! Pick n Pay Plumstead arrived with 200 litres of bottled water – and that while bottled water was in high retail demand,” said Abraham.

In addition,  a truck and bowser rolled in, delivering 2500L of precious drinking water directly into one of the sites water storage tanks.

“We can’t thank everyone enough. You really saved the day for us. 500 animals were watered and all our enclosures were cleaned. Because so many people cared, we’re incredibly touched and very, very grateful. Thank you so much,” concluded Abraham.
