Leleti Khumalo’s fondest memories making SARAFINA!

The Cannes Film Festival (16 to 27 May), announced the selection of SARAFINA! for the 2023 Official Selection – Cannes Classics. SARAFINA! has been selected to be part of the festival for the second time in the film’s history. Leleti caught up with Ryan to talk about the film’s selection at the festival and her fondest memories of making SARAFINA!

I was so nervous and Whoopi Goldberg said to me ‘I’m going to be with you each and every step of the way’ and we did it. It was amazing.

This selection is unprecedented for a South African film as SARAFINA! had its World Premiere three decades ago as part of the Official Selection of the Festival.
